St. Francis de Sales lived from August 21, 1567, through December 28, 1622. Hewas a Bishop of Geneva and is honored as a saint in both the Anglican and Catholic church. He was known for deep faith. He took a gentle approach to the religious divisions resulting from the Protestant Reformation.
He is known for his writings on spiritual direction and spiritual formation. These include the Introduction to the Devout Life and the Treatise on the Love of God.
St. Francis de Sales is the patron saint of writers and journalists.
